A PAIR OF HEARTS...

I have struggled with what to say on this blog.  In the end I felt I must share my grief with my blog buddies.  We share a love of folk art, tattered quilts, samplers, and everything handmade.  So hear goes, my husband Ken Ancell of 24 years passed away last Sunday.  He was 76 years old.  Ken was the most creative person I've ever known.  For many years he was a film director in Chicago.  That's where we met.  He wrote scores and scores of music, lyrics, screen plays, commercials,  and the list goes on.  He had a stroke several years ago and recovered physically, but it's been a mental slide since then.  I'd been a nurse in my first life and was determined to keep him at home for as long as possible.  He died in his favorite chair listening to a Glen Miller cd.  Keep on Punchin now has a double meaning for me.

THE HEARTS HAVE IT

Vintage Valentine Box, Love Ewe, Love Ewe Too join a String of Hearts.  I'm getting things ready for the Cultural Center where I'll be the resident artist during the month of February.  I'll be teaching a heart pin class  there as well as being in the window during Cedarburg's famous Winter Fest.  It should be fun.  But before that this Saturday is the first Lunch and Punch Class of 2013.  There are a couple of spots open if any of you local blog buddies would like to come just give me a call.  262.313.8885.  Oh yes and there are BIRDS on my drawing board.  I've got to get some done for the TAKE FLIGHT exhibit opening Wednesday at Wisconsin Museum of Quilt and Fiber Art.  Keep on punchin.

HEART STRINGS

I never get tired of punchin up this string of hearts.  The color combinations are endless.  This neutral palette was inspired by this fancy frame I found in a thrift shop!  Keep on punchin.
